SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSIONS
As the designer/owner of your website, it is
your responsibility to submit your website to the search engines. A common
assumption many people make is that search engines will find your new website
automatically. This is simply NOT true.
We have written a short and simple tutorial to
guide you through this process, with a few hints and tips. TIP
#1: Please read our Search
Engine Optimisation tutorial. This is VERY important to do
before submitting your website to a search engine! TIP
#2: Finish your website completely before submitting it! The human-edited
search engines do not add sites that are 'Under Construction'. TOP

important that you get this correct. Please don't take these step light-heartedly.
You could find that you're wasting your time otherwise. Once
you have found the perfect category for your website, click on 'Add URL' on the
top menu. TIP
#3: When entering your website description, make
sure it is a full sentence! Also include some of your important keywords. Our description
is "A web hosting service offering free set-up on all plans, domain
name registration and reseller plans also available." 2.
YAHOO Go
to: http://www.yahoo.com/ HINT:
Yahoo has a paid and free service. To avoid the
paid service, do not
submit your site to any category in "Business & Economy ". Browse
to the appropriate category that suits your website. Scroll down to the bottom of
the page and click on "Suggest a Site". Click
on the Free service, and go from there.

LOOKSMART
Looksmart powers a few good search engines, so it's advantageous to be listed
with them. Looksmart is powered by Zeal.com Goto:
http://www.zeal.com/users/register.jhtml
First become a registered member.
You can then search for the appropriate category for your website. For a free
listing, try avoid "Shopping" categories.
AND FINALLY You
should write down the date and category in each search engine you submitted to,
because you should check back on it 6 weeks later. None of these search engines
add your listing automatically. It can sometimes take upto 2 months before your
website is listed!
If after 6 weeks your website is still not listed, then submit again. But,
DO NOT submit your site again too frequently! You may get blacklisted and your
address could be banned for upto 12 months. Please
read the Search Engine
Optimisation page to learn how to increase your search engine ranking.
(Remember to optimise your webpages before submitting to the engines.)
